November 2007 - Classical Formalism - sub-group of Minimalism - it is a very demanding - in order to be a true Classical Formalists piece it must meet all the demands - by using a stock conical fill set to custom I am able to create Bas Relief Type Sculptures - conical fills come with my art program - now on to what a true Classical Formalist Piece must contain - geometric format - division of space - limited color palette - I hand mixed the blue color in this piece - depth - angles are created by the triangular hard-edged shapes - the dark areas between the forms & shapes create angles also - lines are created by the dark shadows or grooves between the forms - the top edges of these hard edged forms also create lines because they are a lightest shade of blue - the outer area of the bluish white shapes or forms that wrap around the 2 main white areas also create lines - all of the lines in this piece are diagonal ones & lead you to where all of them join at one point in the piece - diagonal lines create Visual Tension in a 2D picture plane piece & also in a semi 3D one such as this piece - I use diagonal lines in almost every piece of art I make - I created a white border for this piece in order to give it a clean & finished presentation - I have my name hidden in this piece so please do not think about stealing it - in a Classical Formalism Piece everything must be stripped down to its very foundation - I call this being stripped to its bones - everything must be Clean & Pristine containing No Clutter - I have met all of demands in this piece which make it a true Classical Formalist Piece - I hope you now know something about this rarest art form in the entire world
