February 2008 - minimalism - this is the second piece in a series which was inspired by a music video titled "Stay" the moon could be seen from the window in the background - this then makes it a duel type series because I make many series about the moon - one large horizontal rectangular geometric format which is filled with a hand mixed shade of blue which I will use in the entire series - division of space - limited color palette - I created an interior horizontal rectangle & filled it with the same stock stars post script fill from my art program I used in the first piece of the series it is very difficult to use - this area is the same as in the first piece - it is the night sky which is being viewed from a very large window - I used an Interactive Blend Tool in my art program to make the moon in this piece - I created a white rectangular contour line 1st on top of the blue color area of the piece - then I made a circular white contour line in the center of it - I filled this with white so it would be a full moon - then began to create 4 white spirals which help divide the space within the center of the piece - each spiral contains many thin white lines which help to divide each spiral - I stopped at a certain point when creating the spirals so the black star filled background could still be easily seen - the moon is in the very center of the piece - I then dropped the edges of it behind the bluish color frame like area for the window - next placed a black contour line around the edges of inside edge of the window - then finally I placed another black contour line of the same width as the interior one around the outside edges of it - both black contour lines define the edges of the blue like area in the piece - the outside one helps to give the piece a nice clean presentation - finally this is a very clean & pristine piece that contains no clutter
